read chapters 1-3 of the visual novel in 2020.
i already know all the plot beats since i watched the anime so long ago...
but i'm extremely impressed by ryukishi's ability to convey crushing tension
and include things like jump scares in something that's just text, changing sprites and music.
currently (2023) i'm reading through higher production stuff like fate stay/night and slow damage
and my brain keeps drifting back to how good higurashi is in it's presentation...
gotta finish it asap.
